Borrowed Tine Terms of Service
Effective: October 12, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Borrowed Tine L.L.C., a Michigan limited liability company ("Borrowed Tine", "we", "us"), for the Borrowed Tine app for iPhone and Android and its related services. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the app.
1. Who can use Borrowed Tine
You must be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, you need a parent or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms for you. You're responsible for your account and for keeping your password to yourself.
2. The Borrowed Tine Code
Everyone agrees to the Code at sign-up. It's part of these terms:
- Build each other up. Bow, gun, public, private, first deer or fiftieth: nobody here gets bashed for how they hunt.
- No hate, harassment or threats. Not in posts, comments or messages.
- Fair chase and the law. Hunt legal and ethical, and keep it that way in what you post.
- Respect everyone's spot. Never share where someone else hunts, or try to work it out.
- Pass it on. Help the next generation.
Zero tolerance. If you break the Code, we can remove your posts or comments, or suspend or close your account, without warning.
3. Your content
You own what you post. That includes your photos, videos, captions, comments and scouting data.
What you let us do with it. So the app can work, you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, copy, format and display the content you choose to share:
- Crew content is shown only to members of that crew.
- Public posts are shown to other users of Borrowed Tine. We may also feature public posts in the app and in materials that promote Borrowed Tine, with credit to your username. You can take a public post down at any time, and we'll stop using it going forward.
This license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies others already saved or shared, and backups we remove on our normal schedule.
What you promise. You have the right to post what you post, it doesn't break any law or anyone's rights, and you have permission from anyone identifiable in it.
4. What's not allowed
- Content showing or encouraging illegal hunting, poaching, trespassing, or cruelty beyond lawful, ethical hunting
- Posting or trying to work out the location of someone else's hunting ground, stands, cameras or animals
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or sexual content
- Posting someone else's content as your own
- Spam, scams, or selling things in a way we haven't approved
- Using the parcel owner information to harass, stalk or market to landowners
- Trying to break, overload or get around the app's limits, security or subscriptions, or copying data out in bulk
- Making accounts to claim founder spots or rewards you aren't entitled to
5. Reporting and moderation
You can report or block any post or user in the app. We review reports and act on them, usually within 24 hours. We can remove content or accounts that we believe break these terms, but we don't review everything before it's posted, and we're not responsible for what users post.
6. Hunt legally and safely
You are responsible for knowing and following the law where you hunt: seasons, licenses, tags, weapons, baiting and minerals, trail cameras (some states restrict cellular cameras or using camera data during the season), drones, and landowner permission. Nothing in the app is legal advice or permission to hunt anywhere.
Hunting and being outdoors are dangerous. You use the app at your own risk. Don't use it in a way that distracts you from handling a weapon safely, climbing, driving, or watching your surroundings.
7. Estimates, suggestions and the Guide
Borrowed Tine gives you suggestions from your own logged data, not predictions or guarantees. That includes patterns, bedding estimates, scrape activity, Best sits, age and score estimates, and weather.
The Guide is an AI. Its answers can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Check them against your own judgment and the law. Don't rely on the Guide for safety, legal, medical or property decisions.
8. Property lines and owner information
Parcel lines and owner names come from public county records provided by a third party. They can be out of date or wrong, and the lines are approximate: they are not a survey. They do not show where you may legally hunt, and they give you no right to enter any land. Always get the landowner's permission and confirm boundaries yourself.
9. Plans and payments
Free and paid tiers. Borrowed Tine has a free tier and paid subscriptions (currently Pro, Pro + Lines and All Access), billed yearly or monthly through your Apple ID. What each tier includes, and its limits (for example, a monthly number of Guide questions, map views and parcel lookups), is shown in the app before you buy and can change over time.
Free trials. If a plan includes a free trial, it converts to a paid subscription at the end of the trial unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
Renewal and cancellation. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Canceling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies.
Price changes. If a subscription price goes up, Apple will tell you in advance and you can cancel before it applies.
Founders. The first 500 accounts to sign up receive the Pro tier at no charge for as long as Borrowed Tine offers the Pro tier and the account remains in good standing. This does not include Pro + Lines or All Access. Founder status belongs to one person, can't be sold or transferred, and can be withdrawn from accounts that break these terms or were created to claim more than one spot.
Posting rewards and other promotions are offered at our discretion, can change or end at any time, and can be withheld where we see abuse.
10. Music and videos you make
The music tracks included in the app are owned by Borrowed Tine. You may use them in videos you make with the app and post on social platforms, including for monetized content. You may not extract them or distribute them on their own. Videos made with the app include a small Borrowed Tine watermark or end card; please leave it in place.
11. Our app and our rights
Borrowed Tine, its name, logo, design and software belong to Borrowed Tine L.L.C. We give you a personal, non-transferable license to use the app under these terms. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell it.
12. Outside services
The app relies on services from other companies, including Apple (maps, weather, purchases), Supabase (hosting), Anthropic (the Guide) and Regrid (parcel data). Those services can change or go down, and features that depend on them may be limited or unavailable.
13. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → ☰ → Delete account). We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or creates legal exposure for us. If we close a paid account for breaking these terms, you aren't entitled to a refund for the remaining period, except where the law requires one.
14. Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including that the app will be accurate, uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for a particular purpose. We don't promise you'll see or harvest any animal.
15. Limit of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Borrowed Tine L.L.C. and its owners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, injury or property damage arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or $50. Some states don't allow some of these limits, so they may not all apply to you.
16. You'll cover us
If someone brings a claim against us because of content you posted, how you used the app, or your breaking these terms or the law, you agree to cover our reasonable costs and losses from that claim.
17. Disputes and governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts serving Muskegon County, Michigan, and you agree to their jurisdiction. Please email us first; most problems can be solved that way.
18. Apple
These terms are between you and Borrowed Tine L.L.C., not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, has no obligation to provide maintenance or support, and is not responsible for any claims about the app. If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may notify Apple for a refund of the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing claims that the app infringes someone's intellectual property. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them. You confirm you are not in a country under a U.S. government embargo and are not on a U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Your use of the app must also follow the App Store's terms.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. Using the app after that means you accept the new terms.
